PLACY® Fundamental Movement Skills Parent-Child Sports Experience Day

• The PLACY® Fundamental Movement Skills Parent-Child Sports Experience Day, organised by PLACY® and co-organised by the CUHK Department of Sports Science and Physical Education Alumni Association and the CUHK Early Childhood Education Programmes Alumni Association, was successfully held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Families from Lock Tao Christian Kindergarten were invited to participate in the event, which aimed to promote physical literacy and the development of fundamental movement skills through engaging parent-child activities.

• Centred on Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) and parent-child interaction, the programme featured a series of activity stations and physical challenges designed to help young children develop fundamental locomotor skills, movement coordination, and body control in an enjoyable and supportive environment. Through active participation alongside their children, parents also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of physical literacy development during early childhood and the role of families in fostering healthy lifestyles.

• The event further strengthened collaboration among schools, families, and professional organisations in promoting physical literacy in early childhood. Through experiential learning and community engagement, the programme enhanced public awareness of children’s physical literacy development and reinforced PLACY®’s commitment to supporting healthy growth and lifelong participation in physical activity through future school-based and community initiatives.
